Obituary of Joan M. Crook

Joan M. Crook, 78, of Boyle Center, Auburn, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her home. Born in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Florence (Kurtz) Kimball. Joan retired from General Electric after 25 years of service as a technician at both the Auburn and Syracuse locations. She loved cooking for her family and for her many friends and neighbors at the Boyle Center. Joan had a strong devoted faith and was an active member for more than 40 years at First United Methodist Church. Joan enjoyed Bingo Nights and often played at St. Mary's Church and at the Turning Stone. She is survived by her children, Keith Crook and his companion Christy Bachman, Lori Sullivan and her companion Chris Hasty, Cheryl DeSocio and her husband James and John Crook and his wife Cindy; her companion Ken Shaft; a sister Ruth Armstrong and her husband Wilbur; grandchildren, Sarah Tucker, Christine DeSocio, Alicia, Bailey and Clare Crook; a great granddaughter Sophie Tucker and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Frederick Paul Crook in 1997,her grandson Nicholas DeSocio in 2010 and by six brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to visit the family on Tuesday, May 3 from 4-7pm at Langham Funeral Home, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn. Private family services will be held Wednesday at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.
