Obituary of Thomas J. Ferlenda
Our father Tom Ferlenda joined our beautiful mother in their forever home on July 29,2024, their eternal resting place prepared for them by their Savior, Jesus Christ.(John 14:1-4) together our parents devoted themselves to guiding us in understanding and trusting in God's word. They shared no greater joy than watching their children and grandchildren grow but more importantly that they grow in their relationship with Christ, oh how he loved leading bible studies with them. Dad worked for State Farm Insurance as an agent for 42 years. Dad and mom traveled extensively, but our father's most cherished moments were always our yearly vacations to Ocean City, MD. His grandchildren will always remember how Papa loved to play in the ocean with them. Dad funded every bit of the vacation from the pill bottles full of quarters for the tolls to the ocean front condo, so that no one had to worry about anything but being together as a family, for that is what brought him the most joy.
His Biblical knowledge paired with his unshakable faith was extraordinary. He was always ready, eager and able to answer any questions we had. Whenever we asked any biblical question he would either know the answer right away or know exactly where to find it in the Bible. Those moments will be sorely missed by us all. Other than his family our father's greatest passion was sharing the Gospel. He never wavered in his faith, even during his most difficult times, it was God's grace that carried him through. It was important to him that his faith in Jesus shine through especially in his darkest moments "yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God."(Romans 4:20)
He wanted his memory to be all about his faith so he did not want us to mention his love for boating, fishing, photography or electronics, so we won't. We had to add that in there because our father was an incredibly funny man and we always said there will be humor even when he is gone. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren fiercely. We were blessed with every moment he was our father, our children's Papa and our mother's husband, we will cherish every memory.
Our father will be greatly missed by his children Tricia & Dana Botindari, Christine & Tim Malone, his daughter-in-law Sue Ferlenda, his grandchildren Bill Bouley(Ashley) , Ryan Botindari, Mackenzie Malone, Brandon Malone, Jennifer Ferlenda, Hannah Malone, and Emily Botindari. His great grandchildren, Rio, Oscar, Wulfric Alexander and Edgar Thomas. Brother James Ferlenda(Lori), sisters Pat VanOrman(James), Margie Marquez(Tony), Carol Weslowski(Mark)as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by the Ferlenda and Ferrara families and many special friends. In addition to our beloved mother, Liz and brother David, he was also predeceased by his parents Emanuel and Margaret Ferlenda.
We are grateful for our dad's friends and family who have been by his side these past few years, enjoying music, meals and companionship.
