Dear Lothar-&-Jeanne, Klaus, and Other Family and Friends:
I was saddened to learn of the death of Gertrude on January 5, 2015. It is sad to lose a loved one in death at any age, but hopefully at 94 years of age, it can be said of Gertrude what was said of Isaac at Genesis 25:39 "she died old and satisfied with days." Even though I did not know Gertrude personally, please accept my deepest sympathy in this third year of your loss.
I would like to share with you some verses from the Bible that bring continuing comfort, thoughts that others have shared with me when I lost loved ones.
First, it was never our Creator's purpose that anyone should die, ever! When He put Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they had the prospect of endless life in ageless bodies, in perfect health, on a perfect Earth (Genesis 1:28). Adam and Eve could have passed that life on to us, but they sinned and lost everything for themselves ... and us. (Romans 5:12)
Next, it comforted me and softened my feelings toward Jehovah God to learn that it is Satan who causes aging, sicknesses like Parkinson's, cancer, and death--not God (Hebrews 2:14). Long before He created humans, the Creator already had all the angels He wanted in heaven (Job 38:7).
Finally, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are our guarantees that this Earth will yet be a peaceful, global paradise and that Gertrude (and countless millions) will be resurrected to enjoy it! Remember Jesus' words at John 5:28-29a and John 11:25: "I am the resurrection and the life," and "all those in the memorial tombs ... will be resurrected." Until then Gertrude, Rest In Peace.
May you have comfort and peace from these promises until the day when you can be reunited with a young and healthy Gertrude. And, ... if you would ever like to know more about when and how our Creator Jehovah will bring about these wonderful blessings (or why He has allowed sickness, suffering and death since Adam and Eve sinned so long ago), please feel free to contact me at the address below.
With deepest sympathy and genuine respect,
Harolyne Grant

I worked with Gert at the Cayuga County Lab from 1977-1983. She was meticulous in everything she did and I can honestly say that I never recall her making a mistake even though she handled I am sure thousands of urines over the years. She was not one to sit and was always keeping busy. Plus, she always spoke highly of Gus and her sons and grandsons. They were always in her thoughts. She died the same day as my Aunt Domenica- and I am sure both are in heaven. Gert was a special lady- I share in your loss. Phyllis Lisano Blood Bank Supervisor at Auburn Community Hospital

I wish the article had mentioned her other beautiful grandchildren. These are Klaus's children Amy and Steve. Klaus also has grandchildren through his daughter Amy. They are precious and beautiful people that should have been mentioned as well. I am sad for your loss. I remember meeting Gert a few times when she lived in Auburn...in the old days....

I worked in the chemistry department with Gert and got to know her well. A lovely lady and fun to be around. Still wish I had written down a recipe she told me. So happy I got to know her. I have thought of her often and wondered where she was. My thoughts and prayers to her family.
