I exchanged Christmas cards with Beverly for over 30 years, and did not see her at all during that time. Our Christmas card exchange represented our entire dialogue, as we shared the year in review and offered an idea of what may be on deck for the upcoming year. I always looked forward to getting Beverly's card, as it caught me up on her grandchildren count, who had arrived and who was on the way and what was going on with her family. In turn, I shared what was going on with my children and my wife, and this was the channel through which our friendship grew. This year, she shared with me some of her health issues and her concern for her brother Martin's health issues as well. I had worked at Louis Hornick & Company along with Mr. Crawford as my first job out of college, and Beverly and I had a chance to work together at Hornick as well. When Mr. Crawford passed away, the obituary in the paper showed that Beverly had recently passed away. I was so saddened to realize that my 2021 card would be my last card from Beverly, Also, it must have been very hard for the Crawford and Hamilton families to suffer these losses so close together. I made it a point to attend the prayer service for Beverly and saw the tremendous outpouring of love and support that was shown for Beverly's family. I am grateful that I attended. By all means, keep in touch with people who make you feel good and who take an interest in you. While time may pass, memories can last a lifetime. I will miss getting Beverly's card this Christmas, and I will miss writing our card to her. It is the only card that I write each year. I wish you all peace and comfort.
