Wilbur J. Armstrong, (Willy), 91, of Auburn, died October 1, 2018 at The Commons on St. Anthony Street, Auburn, with his family by his side. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Adelbert and Nettie Adams Armstrong.
Mr. Armstrong was educated in Auburn and was a proud WWII Navy veteran. He was employed with and retired from Sybron Nalge. He was a volunteer with the Throop Fire Department for many years. Following his retirement, he was employed part time at Walmart, as he enjoyed keeping busy and being social. Willy, as many referred to him, enjoyed camping, his trips to Disney World and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruth Kimball Armstrong, his children, Mary (Bernie) McNabb and John (Celeste) Armstrong; grandchildren Erica, Sheena, Joscelyn (Nate), Joseph, Jacob and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Blake and Beverly; his sister Eleanor May and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Patricia, Barbara and Joyce.
There are no calling hours and a private family service will be held at Langham Funeral Home, LLC. Burial will be in Fort Hill Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Throop Fire Department in memory of Wilbur Armstrong. Langhamfuneralhomellc.com
