Obituary of Paula T. Hickey
Paula T. Hickey (née Klink) of Clyde, NY died on Wednesday July 18, 2018. She was born April 1st, 1935 in Auburn, NY to Paul and Mary (Johnston) Klink. She was a graduate of St Alphonsus Elementary School and Holy Family High School, and was trained in medical technology at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Paula was a laboratory technician for many hospitals and health centers until her retirement in 2013, often going directly to the homes of patients that were unable to travel. Later in life, she completed an Associates' Degree in Substance Counseling at Finger Lakes Community College, an achievement of which she was very proud. Paula was a long-time communicant of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Clyde, serving for many years as a lector, Eucharistic minister and member of the Parish Council. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Relationships meant everything to Paula, and one of her greatest passions was keeping friends, classmates, and her large extended family connected. She had a wonderful gift of remembering every birthday, anniversary, or other life event, and her card or letter would find you no matter how far or wide you had wandered. Paula was also an enthusiastic participant in the planning of the Auburn Reunions for many years. She spent innumerable hours curating artifacts and arranging gatherings of classmates of both St Alphonsus and Holy Family. But Paula's great love was her passion for her family, and she was a staunch defender of anyone in the Klink and Hickey clans.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, David L. Hickey of Clyde, NY, daughter Susan (Tom Morse) of Barnard, Vermont, son Joseph (Lauren Pagano) of Brighton, NY and daughter Molly of Trenton Falls, NY; brothers Thomas Klink and John Klink (Suzanne) of Owasco, brother-in-law Robert Gallo of Ithaca, and sister-in-law Regina Klink of Auburn. She is also survived by granddaughters Emily Crist and Leah Pulli , as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Paula was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joan Gallo, her brothers Lawrence Klink and Charles Klink, and sisters-in-law Maryanne Klink and Rosemary Klink.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 22, from 3-6 PM at the Langham Funeral Home in Auburn, NY, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 23 at 10 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Auburn., with interment immediately following at St Joseph's Cemetery.
