Mr. Hulbeck was my American history prof at ACC in '68-'69. He was a truly gifted teacher. He knew his content inside and out...(his background in Colonial American history was awesome) and he cared about each and every student. The first part of my educational career was as a high school social studies teacher. I was inspired and influenced a great deal by Mr. Hulbeck. I am saddened with his passing but so lucky to have been his student !

I was so saddened to learn of Professor Hulbeck's passing.
He was an excellent educator and Gentleman.
I will miss the chats we had regarding Gettysburg and historic sites. His Colonial History Class at CCC was exceptional and the seeds of knowledge that he planted in my teacher conscience live on in my students.

I knew Tom as a substitute teacher, fellow landlord and as a greeter. He was a gracious and interesting guy who was easy to converse with. His mild manner, smile and informative conversations will be missed. God bless him.

I grew up across the street from Mr. Hulbeck and his wife. They were very friendly people. He had many many stories of his childhood and early adulthood that I just now am appreciating. And am awestruck by. He was a master at storytelling and we could have, should have learned so much more from him. They both were very special people.
Sad to learn of his passing. I have many fond memories. Condolences to the family

Professor Hulbeck was a gifted teacher of history, one of the best in that particular line of work and certainly one of the most talented faculty members at ACC.
His breadth of knowledge, insight and lively presentation of course material made for memorable classes and semesters that seemed to speed by. For great education and sheer entertainment value, there was no better place to be than a Hulbeck lecture.
His gift was instilling an appreciation of our history and a desire to learn and understand so much more over our own lifetime.
Thank you, Professor Hulbeck, from a grateful student.

Tom Hulbeck was such a fine man in all kinds of ways. I came to know him through his substituting for me from time to time at Auburn High. He was soft spoken and kind with the students who responded in like manner, and as a well educated scholar, he knew a vast range of material in the liberal arts. Later I would see him at Walmart where he was a greeter. His gentle smile put people at ease. We would chat about our personal lives and the state of the world. But then I would leave him reluctantly to go do some stupid errand.... I will miss him.
