Obituary of Olive Blair

Olive L. Blair Olive Lillian Blair, 94, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. She died peacefully two weeks before her 95th birthday surrounded by family at Loretto The Commons of St. Anthony. She was preceded in her death by her husband Ray Blair in 1998 and her son-in-laws, Brian Ault and Dr. Anthony Buschi. She is survived by her eight children - Patricia Ault, Dorothy Buschi, James Blair (Jackie), Barbara Rothman (Jan), Raymond Blair, Jr., Mary Avola (Richard), Don Blair (Robin), and Debbie Postel (Gary), along with 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was born Fulton, NY in 1922 to James and Dorothy Featherly and raised in Syracuse, NY. She attended Syracuse University, where she met her lifelong love, Ray, whom she married in Pensacola, FL in 1943. Olive and Ray enjoyed their retirement together in Fort Myers, FL, before Olive relocated back to Auburn to spend her final years near family. Olive was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend as she raised her family with her husband in both Syracuse and Auburn, NY. Olive's proudest accomplishment was in raising her eight children, including spending many memorable family summers boating in the St. Lawrence River and the family camp at Oneida Lake. She was an avid golfer and tennis player, hobbies she enjoyed sharing with her husband, children, and friends. There will be no calling hours for Mrs. Blair. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. NY.
