Richard Eugene Thompson, 89, formerly of 36 Lake Ave., Auburn, passed away June 21, 2017 at Penfield Place, Penfield, NY. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Eugene and Dorothy (McKeen) Thompson.
Richard was an Auburn West High School graduate and was enlisted as an Army medic during WW II. He retired from Hammond & Irving where he was employed in sales for over 40 years. He was a communicant of SS Peter & John Episcopal Church when he resided in Auburn. Richard was a life long circus fan, and a founding member of the Billy Martin Ring of the Circus Fans of America.
He is survived by his son James Richard Thompson (Marion) of Penfield and a granddaughter Jennifer Abenhaim (Joseph) of Rochester. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy Thompson in 1990.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 26 at 10:30am at SS Peter & John Episcopal Church, Auburn with burial to follow in Sand Beach Cemetery, Fleming, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rochester Hospice/ Lifeime Care, 3111 Winton Rd. South Rochester, NY 14623 in Richard's memory.
