Thomas E. Pedley
Thomas E. Pedley, 69, of Auburn NY died on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Thomas was born the eldest son of Theodore and Eunice Gilmore Pedley.
Thomas was a life-long resident of Auburn. He enlisted and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era.
Tom truly loved life. He enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature; annually taking a short walk at his sister's home to check the brook for the trout and carp runs as a sure sign of the coming of Spring; going out often "for a breath of fresh air", and enjoying a refreshing glass of tap water from Owasco Lake. Most of all, Tom enjoyed chatting with his family, his dear friends and each and every old or new acquaintance. Tom had that innate ability to find topics that interested the other person and to quickly work that topic into the conversation; Bible scripture with a long-time Chaplain friend or Rock 'n Roll artists and their songs with a brother-in-law.
Tom was predeceased by his father Theodore Pedley, two brothers, James Pedley and William Pedley and a great-grandson, Xavier.
Tom is survived by his mother Eunice Gilmore Pedley; his children Nancy Durnford and Christopher (Kathryn) Pedley; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters; Linda (John) Schwartz, Susan (James) Talamo and Joan (Michael) Lucas; many nieces, nephews and a very dear uncle, Clayton Gilmore.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or to Owasco Watershed Lake Assoc. (OWLA), PO Box 1, Auburn, NY 13021.
