Obituary of David Scott Smith

David Scott Smith, or “Smitty” as he was often referred to, was a proud Irishman and father of two sons. He died unexpectedly on Friday February 17, 2017 in his home, he was 52. Born and raised in Auburn, he was the son of the late Ned and Marilyn Crawford Smith.
Dave was employed with J&B Construction, was a talented artisan and carpenter who showed great passion for his work. He had a love for music and was the guitar player, singer and songwriter for the first punk rock band in Auburn, The Right Profile. David also enjoyed fishing and kayaking in the Finger Lakes Region with his father and children.
He was known for his sense of humor, a knowing grin, and was always prepared with a great story to make those around him laugh.
He is survived by sons, Alex Johnston, 28, and his mother Sarah Johnston, Trevor Smith, 17, and his mother Brenda Smith; a brother, Gary Smith; two sisters, Michele (Shelli) Smith and Lori Lyn Reed and husband Gary; two nephews, Brady and Matthew Reed and by his loving partner Dawn Jordan.
A celebration of life and memorial will be held for family and friends on Saturday, February 25 from 1-4 pm at the Knights of Columbus. Burial in St. Joseph’s cemetery will be at a later date. Visit www.Langhamfuneralhomellc.comto leave a condolence for the family.
