Obituary of Raymond John Alger
Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymond John Alger, a man who walked to the beat of his own drum, passed mercifully in the late night hours of May 21, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Ray had it in his heart to prepare his own obituary, but as life would have it this did not come to fruition. So we, his family, leave it in the hands of all who knew and loved him to let your memories of him become the words of his heart.
Ray was born in Auburn, on Oct. 4, 1931. He graduated from Weedsport High School, Auburn Community College, and the University of Florida. Ray served in the Armed Forces for two years. Before retiring, Ray worked as a CPA in the Office of the New York State Comptroller for a period of 30 years.
Ray leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Mary Ann Alger; eight children, Raymond, Robin, Douglas, William, Michael, Steven, Frank, and Kathryn; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Brittany, Chelsea, Bryan, Stephanie, Zachary, Rosalie, and Jillian; a sister, Jane, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and Donald.
There are no calling hours. The family invites those to share memories of Ray during a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Langham Funeral Home. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
